GTI5G-ACIA sign Memorandum of Understanding to make the Industrial 5G become a reality
• Promote the integration of 5Gvertical industries
• Build the ecosystem of 5G for industry globally
• Promote deeply cooperation between MNO, ICTOT partners
Beijing (China), Frankfurt/Main (Germany) March 29, 2021 – GTI5G-ACIA signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote the integration of 5Gvertical industries. The partners intend to contribute to the building of the ecosystem of 5G for industry. The MoU aims to strengthen the cooperative relationshipto work on foster a closer channel between the Mobile Networks Operators community represented by GTIthe 5G for industry community represented by 5G-ACIA.
GTI aims to promote 5G commercializationcross-industry innovation, has been working to develop 5G for industries. It has a program called ENS (enterprise network solution) that addresses the vertical marketspush for common 5G solutions for industry 4.0.
The mission of 5G-ACIA is to ensure the best possible applicability of mobile radio especially the 5G technology for connected industries, in particular the manufacturingprocess industries. 5G-ACIA will ensure that the interestsparticular aspects of the industrial domain are adequately considered in 5G standardizationregulation. 5G-ACIA will further ensure that the ongoing 5G developments are understood bytransferred to the industrial domain. This includes possible integration conceptsmigration paths, together with the evaluation of key technologies emerging from 5G standardization bodies.
Mr. Craig Ehrlich, Chairman of GTI, said “as an international industrial cooperation platform, GTI is committed to facilitating 5G development as well as convergence of 5Gverticals. The close collaboration with 5G ACIA will create advantagesnew opportunities to break down the barriers between ICTOT, thus accelerating the process of industry digitalizationthe integration of artificial intelligence, while at the same time exploring new market opportunities via technology fusion.”
Dr. Afif Osseiran (Ericsson), 5G-ACIA General Vice Chair, 5G-ACIA General Vice Chair, carried on “the collaboration with GTI aims to strengthen the 5G-ACIA footprint on one hand in the Mobile Networks Operators community that is the nucleus in GTI,on a second hand in China which is the major global hub for the manufacturing industry. Ultimately, in the hope of accelerating the 5G ecosystem for the Factories of the Future.”
GTI is an international platform of industry cooperation. It was founded in 2011 by China Mobile, Bharti Airtel, SoftBank, VodafoneSprint (Now T-Mobile US). In 2016, GTI 2.0 was launched to further promote 4G evolution, 5G developmentcross-industry innovation. GTI now has 139 operator members247 industrial partner members. www.gtigroup.org
The 5G Alliance for Connected IndustriesAutomation (5G-ACIA) is the central global forum for shaping industrial 5G standards. 5G-ACIA members jointly prepare for the disruptive change that 5G will bring, promote a better understanding of industrial needs, gain insightsa highly attractive emerging market. 5G-ACIA provides a unique platform for OTICT companies, academia, all relevant stakeholders to influence 5G developmentdeployment, in line with industrial imperatives. The currently more than 80 member organizations make the results of their work directly available to 3GPP, the main standardization body for developing 5G. 5G-ACIA is a market representation partner of 3GPPhas the formal status of a working party of ZVEI - German ElectricalElectronic Manufacturers’ Association. www.5g-acia.org
