Singtel announced it will be powering what it claims is Singapore’s first fully livestreamed outdoor event over its 5G network this weekend.
As part of the 5G@Sentosa programme, Singtel partnered with IMDA and Singapore Motocross Beach Race (SGMX), to fully stream the event on 5G, showcasing 5G’s enhanced mobile broadband capability to support ultra-high-definition (UHD) content. This event will also mark the first time in Singapore that 5G connectivity will be used to provide exclusive ultra HD views directly from the riders’ body-worn cameras as they travel at top speeds of up to 150km/h.
The SGMX returns with hundreds of motocross riders from around the world this weekend after a two-year break. Infor more people to experience the action in real time from anywhere in the world, the organisers needed a reliable mobile network that can guarantee high throughput and low latency performance for broadcasting the event.
"This event is further proof that outdoor events can leverage the reliability of Singtel’s 5G network to distribute real-time UHD content from multiple 5G-enabled devices that are concurrently streaming over global online mediums" the telco said in its announcement.
