US regional operator Union Wireless has chosen the CorePlusX voice over Wi-Fi (VoWiFi) solution from virtualized IP network software provider Interop Technologies to offer Wi-Fi calling services to subscribers throughout Wyoming, Colorado and Utah, reports Telecompaper.com on June 30, 2015. Interop’s cloud-based solution, which supports native and downloadable Wi-Fi calling clients on the latest Apple and Android devices, enables Union Wireless subscribers to make voice calls and send text messages across any available Wi-Fi network.
Union Wireless CTO Eric Woody said, “When evaluating VoWiFi options, Interop’s cloud-based solution was the clear choice. Not only will we be able to quickly and cost effectively bring Wi-Fi calling to our market, but we’ll also be establishing a seamless path to IMS and VoLTE, thanks to the layered architecture of the CorePlusX product suite.”
VoWiFi is one of the five IP services of Interop’s CorePlusX suite, which enables companies to rapidly deploy IMS, Voice-over-WiFi, Voice-over-LTE, Voice-over-LTE Roaming, and Rich Communication Services. It also provides policy control, home subscriber service and a diameter gateway to provide secure, centralized and high-performance advanced IP communications.
