Vodafone Portugal has announced the creation of an innovation laboratory to drive the mobile network of the future, called the 5G Hub. It is located at the company’s headquarters in Lisbon and will be an open center for the production of knowledge and innovation, bringing together partners in telecommunications, industry, universities, researchers and start-ups. The goal is to create an ecosystem conducive to the development of new technology to take advantage of all the potential that 5G presents.
Vodafone also announced a strategic partnership with Ericsson for the construction and development of 5G in Portugal. Together with Ericsson, this innovation center will be open to participation from leading universities throughout the country. Also part of this Hub is UPTEC, a technology park that provides support and mentoring to start-ups, as well as Vodafone Power Lab, an incubator for entrepreneurship projects.
