SFR announced that it reached a peak speed of 2.3 Gbps during a live 5G demonstration coinciding with the inauguration of Altice Campus, the operator’s new headquarters in the fifteenth arrondissement of Paris. As part of the event, the test network enabled it to stream 4K content and broadcast eight live feeds from different cameras. SFR used radio infrastructure and equipment from Huawei, along with core network components provided by Cisco. The demonstration follows recent 5G tests carried out on 3.5 GHz spectrum at SFR’s research lab in Velizy (Ile-De-France).
The company said that nearly 7,000 employees will work in the four office buildings at Altice Campus by early 2019. With a surface of 85,800 square meters, the site groups the telecom and media activities of SFR’s parent Altice France, incorporating the newly opened TV production studios for the BFM and RMC Sport channels.
