The Agency for Communication Networks and Services of the Republic of Slovenia (Akos) claims there has been disinformation in the media regarding the allocation of test frequencies for 5G. Akos said that free use of the frequencies will only be available until the start of commercial 5G operation, when spectrum is awarded through a public auction. Akos provided free spectrum in the frequency band 3,400 - 3,800 MHz and in the 700 MHz band for trials.
Part of the 3,400-3,800 MHz range is use locally for WiMax until October 2021. For frequencies in the 700 MHz band, a public auction was announced at the beginning of this year and the final award will be in the first half of next year. The use of test frequencies has been awarded only until 31 January 2019.
