AT&T announced plans for a third 5G device. After a hotspot with Netgear and 5G smartphone with Samsung, the company said it plans another Samsung smartphone for the second half of 2019. The new device will work on both 5G mmWave and sub-6 GHz spectrum.
AT&T expects to be the first US carrier to launch standards-based mmWave mobile 5G in 2018. Verizon’s earlier launch of 5G services uses its own proprietary 5G standards in the 28 GHz band for fixed-wireless services.
