At the 5G frequency auction, Swiss operator Sunrise has acquired the strategically most important frequencies in the 3.5 GHz band, which fit its "5G for People" strategy. With its existing and new frequencies, Sunrise will be able to secure its existing 96 percent LTE area coverage and deliver a 5G network in the future.
In the 3.5 GHz band, Sunrise acquired a third (100 MHz) of the available frequencies here - 2x55 MHz. In the middle frequency range, Sunrise has gained 15 MHz in 1400 MHz band and in the low frequency range, Sunrise has won 2x5 MHz in the 700 MHz FDD and 10 MHz in the 700 MHz supplemental downlink.
Sunrise will pay CHF 89.2 million for the newly acquired frequencies, which is a favourable price of 0.077 CHF per MHz per population. This will not have any impact on the dividend policy, which calls for an annual dividend increase of 4–6 percent for the period from 2018–2020.
