French spectrum agency ANFR said that the country’s national frequency plan has been amended to reflect the government’s decision to give Arcep priority status in accessing the 26 GHz band for 5G services. This is in line with recommendations at European level, advocating its use as one of the three 5G pioneer bands within the EU. The French telecom regulator has already been working with the industry towards this objective and has opened an award process for 26 GHz trial spectrum in January.

Alongside this change, the national frequency plan has been updated with a revision to Annex 7, enacting EU harmonization agreements in the 874-876 MHz and 915-921 MHz bands for the use of low-power short-range devices.
