Slovakia's government has announced a detailed programme on the deployment of 5G networks in the country, reports Zive.aktuality.sk. The country plans to start an auction of the 700 MHz band by 30 June.

Winners of the licences will be required to cover all motorways and international railway lines, 97 percent of the urban population and 70 percent of the total population with 5G by 2025. By 2030, 95 percent of the population should be covered with the 5G network.

The 700 MHz and 3.6 GHz bands will by used mainly for 5G services in the country. In addition, at least 1 GHz of spectrum should be allocated for 5G services in the 24.25-27.5 GHz range by 2024, provided that there is demand for the frequencies in the market.

The strategy also looks at health and security issues related to 5G networks. It outlines the public health authorities responsible for monitoring radiation and underlines the importance of reassuring consumers on the safety of 5G.
The plan also includes implementation of EU policies and the new Electronic Communications Code, with legislation on this due by December.
