Russian mobile operator Beeline announced that it started deployment of the 5G-ready network in stations and tunnels of the Moscow Metro. The operator plans to complete the project by the end of November.
The renewed network will enable customers to access high-quality services in all locations in the Moscow Metro. At the initial stage, the operator plans to provide full coverage of voice and broadband services on the five busiest metro lines: Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaya, Zamoskvoretskaya, Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya, Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya and Serpukhovsko-Timiryazevskaya. Other lines will be covered in the second stage.
The 5G-ready network is already available in 61 of the 218 stations of the Moscow Metro. The project includes network deployment and upgrade. The operator will upgrade its 450 km feeder-cable.
The 5G-ready equipment currently available in the Moscow underground is used for services under the LTE-Advanced, LTE Advanced Pro and NB-IoT standards. Beeline carries out the project in cooperation with Huawei.
