T-Mobile taps Mavenir converged IMS service for VoLTE launch

2014-07-16 12:02:29| Source:

Software-based networking services provider Mavenir Systems has announced that its new IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) core network and Telephony Application Server (TAS) have commercially launched and carry live Voice over LTE (VoLTE) traffic, Telecompaper.com reported on July 14, 2014. Mavenir\'s converged IMS voice service enabled T-Mobile\'s recent VoLTE launch, and the service was first used to launch Wi-Fi calling in 2011. T-Mobile leveraged those early investments in Wi-Fi Calling to accelerate its network’s readiness and launch VoLTE service.

Mavenir\'s technology is designed to ensure that VoLTE and VoWi-Fi are compatible with existing network services, such as prepaid and ring-back tones, thus providing a seamless user experience for mobile subscribers whether they’re on 3G, LTE or Wi-Fi access networks.
