Broadcom unveils devices for small cell network deployments

2014-07-18 12:18:56| Source:

Semiconductor services provider Broadcom has introduced new devices for residential, enterprise and outdoor small-cell networks, Telecompaper.com reported on July 16, 2014. ItsBCM61735, BCM61755 and BCM61765 system-on-a-chip (SoC) devices double the capacity of operators and carriers to offload data traffic from increasingly congested 3G, LTE mobile and Wi-Fi (802.11n and 802.11ac) networks. The enhanced portfolio also delivers data rates of up to 300 Mbps and includes support for Wi-Fi offload.

Broadcom\'s BCM61735 is optimized for low cost and bill-of-material, the lowest power and smallest footprint required by residential CPE markets. When combined with Broadcom Wi-Fi, DSL, cable and PON residential gateway products, the BCM61735 provides a complete multi-radio access technology (RAT) residential service. Broadcom\'s BCM61755 and BCM61765 provide advanced enterprise and venue features, including RF digital front end (DFE),multi-core processors, increased user count, and range, mobility and carrier aggregation, along with carrier Wi-Fi and Power-over-Ethernet compliance.

Thelaunch also includes Broadcom\'s new 3G/LTE RF transceiver, the BCM61297. The low-power device works with Broadcom\'s small-cell SoCs to reduce bill-of-material and better manage small cell interference on all carrier aggregation band combinations approved by 3GPP. Thisresults in seamless service to mobile subscribers. Additional support for GSM/UMTS/LTE sniffing capabilities for advanced self-organizing networks (SON) and timing algorithms further reduces operators’ costs forupgradingsite performance and enhances overall mobile network capacity.

Currently sampling are Broadcom\'s BCM61735 for residential small cells, BCM61755 for enterprise small cells and BCM61765 for high capacity and outdoor metrocells.
