Vodafone Germany upgrades Hockenheim mobile network
Vodafone Germany has invested around EUR 1.2 million in upgrades to its mobile network infrastructure in anticipation of the 2014 German F1 Grand Prix in Hockenheim, Telecompaper.com reported on July 18, 2014. It deployed a small cell network with 89 antennas to expand the capacity of the existing mobile base stations. Each antenna covers a radius of around 300 meters. The upgrade means that the Hockenheim ring now has a complete network infrastructure comprising GSM, UMTS and LTE technology.
