Russian mobile operator Megafon has launched its LTE-Advanced network in the city of St Petersburg, supporting up to 300 Mbps broadband, reported Telecompaper.com on Sept 4, 2014. The services use the 2,600 MHz band and the network covers the downtown area of the city. The number of LTE-A base stations is planned to double in the city by the end of the year. Megafon first launched LTE-Advanced in Moscow in February.
