Slovak Telekom, Ericsson, Qualcomm test LTE-A CA
Slovak Telekom, in cooperation with Ericsson and Qualcomm, made a technology test of carrier aggregation for LTE-Advanced, Telecompaper.com writes, explaining that the technology allows double the network speed by using a combination of frequency spectrum blocks, such as 20 MHz + 20 MHz, 10 MHz + 10 MHz or 20 MHz + 10 MHz. The user terminal receives data from two channels simultaneously. Besides the higher speed, LTE-A CA leads to a more efficient usage of spectrum under real conditions.
In the test, a speed of 300 Mbps was reached in the operator\'s LTE network. This used the combination of 20 MHz and 20 MHz in the 2,600 MHz band. The concrete set-up (CA_7C) was tested in Bratislava for the first time globally. Ericsson supplied the infrastructure for the testing, and Qualcomm supplied a pre-production sample of a terminal device.
