Algerie Telecom has launched fixed-wireless LTE services for residential subscribers, Telegeography.com writes, noting that as of Sept 8, 2014, private users were able to subscribe to the LTE plan, which includes customer premises equipment (CPE), a LTE-compatible router, SIM card and a 5GB data allowance with 30-day validity for 3,500 Algerian dinar ($44.54). Recharge cards are also available with prices ranging from 1,000 dinar for 1GB of data to 6,500 Algerian dinar (10GB).

In June 2013, AT Group CEO Azouaou Mehmel said that business customers would be the initial target group of the company’s commercial LTE network because of the high costs involved. The service was subsequently introduced to businesses in May 2014, with AT revealing that it had deployed 200 “eNodeB” sites across the country’s 48 wilayas (provinces), with plans to install 2,000 LTE-enabled base transceiver stations (BTS) by the end of 2015.
