nTelos taps Alca-Lu for third successive LTE expansion
US mobile operator nTelos Wireless has chosen Alcatel-Lucent, a French-US vendor, to build its latest network in West Virginia and parts of western Virginia, Telegeography.com reported on Sept 9. The network will serve an additional 2.1 million people across the two states. Alcatel-Lucent has worked with the wireless provider since 2000, and the new contract represents the third network expansion overseen by the company since nTelos launched its LTE network in 2013.
The vendor’s LTE solution includes multi-technology Radio Access Network, Mobile Backhaul and elements within its Evolved Packet Core (EPC). Further, the new base stations will support the 800MHz, 1,900MHz and 2,500MHz spectrum, as utilized by LTE roaming partner Sprint Corp.
