LTE TDD/FDD International Summit 2012 Barcelona

Report in Collaboration with the GSMA Highlights Best Practice from National 5G Plans

The 6th LTE TDD/FDD International Summit (GTI Summit) was taken place on Feb 27, 2012 during the Mobile World Congress 2012 in Barcelona, Spain. This summit was hosted by GTI, a virtual open platform advocating cooperation among operators to promote TD-LTE global commercial deployment.

This Summit attracted over 1300 guests from various industries showing interest. Over 600 delegates including 170 delegates from 68 global operators attended.

    Clearwire has been revolutionizing the wireless industry around 4G 
    Clearwire is preparing to build the highest capacity LTE network in the US. Clearwire is planning to deploy LTE advanced ready network under the 2.5GHz TD-LTE standard configuration with 5,000 of LTE sites by June 2013 will be approximately total 8,000 sites.

    Softbank firmly believes that AXGP/TD-LTE will be the public success 
    The AXGP/TD-LTE network was launched in Nov 2011. Sep 2012, Softbank will launch AXGP/TD-LTE capable smart phones. By the end of March 2013, the population coverage of Japan will reach 92% with 13,000 base stations.

    QualcommHuawei HiSilicon released their latest TD-LTE/LTE-FDD/3G/2G Multi-Mode commercial chipsets. It reveals the realization of FDD/TDD fully converged development,indicates that new generation converged smart phone will be available in 6~9 months. Therefore promoted TD-LTE global deploymentcommercialization.

    TD-LTE Innovation Exhibition includes GTI 1st Anniversary Achievements, various terminal chipset products, innovation network & test equipment,TD-LTE innovation service. Nearly 35 TD-LTE terminals & services were presented. TD-LTE/LTE FDD/3G/2G Multi-Mode chipsets were also employed. These chipsets will fulfill the availability of TD-LTE smart phone in 2012.
