The 44th GTI Workshop was successfully convened in Barcelona,Spain on February 28th to March 1st. Theworkshop brought together over 200senior representatives and industry experts from international organizations such as GSMA, NGMN, and one6G, as well as global operators including Telefónica, SoftBank, and YTL, along with nearly 100 industry partners. The workshopfocused on key technologies and applications related to the convergence of5G/5G-Anetworks and AI.

Madam Huang Yuhong, the Secretary General of GTI, attended and delivered an opening note. She emphasized that GTI should focus on key areas like network-intelligence convergence, continuously promote the evolution of 5G-A technology and its integration with AI across its fourtechnical programs, and foster technological innovation and industrial cooperation in fields such as smart home and space-air-ground integrated communication. The goal, she stated, is to solve critical common problems and create greater value for the global industry.

The workshop centered around four main themes: 5G Technology and Products, 5G-A×AI Development, 5GEnterprise Network Solutions, and 5G Digital &Intelligent Life. In the 5G Technology and Products session, experts exchanged views on demand exploration, low-cost networking, space-air-ground integration, and new-type intelligent connectivity. The demand exploration session shared global pathways for realizing 5G-A commercial value and presented typical use cases. The low-cost networking session discussed the application and product development of RedCap, promoting low-cost, large-scale connectivity for 5G & 5G-A networks. The space-air-ground integration session covered requirements and innovative solutions for new network constructions like low-altitude networks, ATG, and NTN. A highlight was the release of "GTI 5G Air-to-Ground (ATG) Aviation Connectivity Technology System White Paper," elaborating on aviation internet development needs and the 5G ATG technology innovation system. The new-type intelligent connectivity session focused on networks, chips, new-form terminals, and applications, promoting the two-way empowerment of 5G-A and intelligence. During this session, the working group released the "GTI 5G/5G-A Core Technologies and Development Trends: A Chip Perspective White Paper," analyzing key technical characteristics and industrial implementation of 5G/5G-A chips to drive end-to-end evolution.

In the area of 5GEnterprise Network Solutions, experts conducted in-depth analyses of critical topics such as industry demands for passive IoT, technological evolution, unified identity, andenterprise network applications. Discussions also covered AI Agent requirements for 5G-A industry networks, AI RAN,andedge intelligence. Severalachievements were released, including the "Passive IoT White Paper – Application Cases," "Passive IoT White Paper – Artificial Intelligence," and "White Paper on All-Wireless Field Area Networks for New-Type Industrialization",aiming to accelerate the implementation and industrial application of passive IoT and 5G-A industry network technologies, further promoting digital and intelligent upgrading across industries.

Interms of 5G-A×AI Development, experts engaged in thorough discussions on innovative network service models and capabilities, such as AI-enabled New Calling anddata-driven enhancement of communication service experience. They also explored the development prospects and shared experimental experiences with cutting-edge AI technologies. During the workshop, the "Network Intelligent Agent and NetMCP Technology White Paper" was released, elaborating on the concept and evolution of network intelligent agents and demonstrating the broad prospects of integrating intelligent agents with networks.

Regarding 5G Digital & Intelligent Life, expertsshared smart homes market, technologies and services. Focusing on three main directions – smart home connectivity, home AI agents, and embodied intelligent robots – the discussions delvedthe technical research on home AI+ innovative applications driven by the development of AI and IoT technologies. The objectiveof this new program will be to foster industry consensus in the digital intelligence life domain, promote upgrade of digital intelligence home products, and collectively explore innovative and sustainable business models in the smart home sector.

Furthermore, a variety of core 5G/5G-A technology products and innovative IoT solutions were showcased during the workshop. These included 4G/5Gbase stations, low-altitude communication chips (Release18) and modules, along with 5G-A x AI terminal test systems and passive IoT devices. These showcases garnered significant industry attention, further contributing to the maturity of the 5G/5G-A industry.
