Telia’s LTE reaches 161 cities
TeliaSonera Sweden (Telia) has announced that its 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) mobile broadband services now cover 161 Swedish cities, following the expansion of the network to eight new locations last week.
New areas to receive Telia’s LTE coverage are: Kiruna, Koping, Landskrona, Ljungby, Nykoping, Trelleborg, Vetlanda and Ostersund. Telia is aiming to offer LTE to 231 locations by end-2011 and 663 locations by end-2012, while TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database notes that the operator plans to improve services and deepen its coverage by augmenting its existing 2600MHz LTE frequencies with 800MHz and 1800MHz bands won in spectrum auctions in March 2011 and October 2011, respectively.
