Mr. Liu Liehong, Vice Minister of MIIT of China, addressed in his opening note that 5G is right at the moment of the development. China is heavily promoting the development of new-generation technologies in 5G networks. In 2020, over 600,000 5G base stations were built, all of the prefecture top-tier cities were fully covered by 5G networks, with 5G connections reaching up to 200 million. In 2021, China plans to build another 600,000 5G base stations.

To accelerate further development, Mr. Liu put forward four proposals. First, accelerate digital infrastructure to further improve service capabilities of networks. Second, enhance technological innovation to lay a solid foundation for 5G. Third, continue to build cross-industry converged innovation ecosystem,promote scale development of 5G converged applications. Fourth, strengthen international cooperation to achieve a win-win situation.
