The economic effect built on connectivity has also been favorable to the growth of the global economy. 5G has emerged as a new mobile communication technology that serves as a crucial ICT infrastructurea key platform to enable new businessesservices. As the UN specialized agency for ICTs, ITU has long been committed to enabling the growthsustainable development of telecommunicationsinformation networks. To promote the development of 5G, ITU has provided full support in terms of standards, spectrum, applications, as well as sustainable development.
