GTI Steering Committee welcomes three new members
7th of June, 2012 – E-Plus, KT and P1 won the election and officially joined GTI Steering Committee to cooperate with the existing SC members Bharti Airtel, China Mobile, Clearwire, Softbank and Vodafone.
With the rapid growth of GTI membership, more and more operators are willing to take part in GTI and devoting in TD-LTE activities. In the hope of enhancing TD-LTE operators’ leadership and reinforcing global influences, GTI Steering Committee decided to elect new seats. Totally 7 GTI operators submitted the applications to cover different aspects including company representative, enrollment, industry influential, regional representation and contribution to GTI.
The increase in SC members will reflect the broad interests across major global markets, and also increase the involvement of GTI active contributors. This is also the recognition for GTI operators who make the most valuable contributions to TD-LTE commercialization and ecosystem.
Briefing on 3 new GTI Steering Committee members:
E-Plus: Mr. Dirk Poppen, Managing Director WiMee (an E-Plus company)
E-Plus is an active GTI member and is leading one of the GTI Task Forces. It also made continues contributions to several GTI Task Forces. E-Plus is planning to the contribution of 3.5GHz TD-LTE Ecosystem.
KT: Sung Man Kim, Senior Executive Vice President, Head of Network Business Group
KT is an active participant in all GTI events. It collaborated with GTI members for the expedition of 3GPP standardization of LTE TDD/FDD HO. It also participated in MMMB TF and joint MiFi development.
P1: Mr. Michael Lai, CEO
P1 is actively taking part in global conferences to advocate TD-LTE adoption. As the leading 4G Telco in Southeast Asia, P1 is committed alongside with GTI to push the adoption of TD-LTE among operators.
