Huawei in Nigeria TD-LTE rollout
Chinese vendor supplies SingleRAN solution to Nigerian fixed wireless operator.
Huawei will deploy a mobile network for Nigeria\'s Zodafones based on the TDD variant of LTE, it announced on Tuesday.
The Chinese vendor will roll out a network, based on its SingleRAN LTE TDD solution, in the Nigerian capital Abuja and surrounding areas. It claims this will be western Africa\'s first commercial TD-LTE network.
Dr A. Aliyu, president of Zodafones, described the project as "a milestone for mobile broadband development in western Africa", noting that Huawei\'s technology, experience and fast delivery will allow his company "to achieve a strong market position".
Zodafones offers fixed wireless voice and data services in the 3.5-GHz band in Nigeria.
