Telefonica Deutschland (O2) has announced that more than 98% of households in each federal state are now covered by its LTE network with downstream rates of at least 100Mbps, following a similar announcement from rival Vodafone Germany earlier this week.
The coverage target is a requirement set by the Federal Network Agency (FNA) during the 2019 multi-band spectrum auction. Telefonica has also revealed that its 5G network currently covers 75% of the population and is making good progress in supplying motorways and railway lines, claiming that is has already met a requirement to roll out 5G at at least 1,000 locations.
