Ooredoo Kuwait has announced its readiness to launch 400Mbps fibre broadband speeds through its subsidiary, FASTtelco, pending the necessary approvals from the Ministry of Communications (MoC) and the Communications & Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA). With premium user packages currently capped at 200Mbps, Ooredoo claims it is the first Kuwaiti ISP prepared for the 400Mbps upgrade.

The telco notes that the 400Mbps upgrade comes in parallel with the MoC’s initiative to replace legacy ONT devices in Al Bida’a, Rumaythiya, Salwa and Salmiya with devices that support the new higher speeds. Ooredoo also highlights that its ‘Fibre+’ fibre-to-the-room (FTTR) option which it launched last year in collaboration with Huawei is available for all fibre subscribers and for its 5G fixed home broadband subscribers.
