Antel Expands 5G Network to Three More Cities

Uruguay’s state-owned telecoms operator Antel has expanded coverage of its 5G network to an additional three cities in the past two weeks.
The high speed service, which operates in the 3.5GHz band, is now also available in Treinta y Tres, Rivera and Melo. Antel’s 5G network was launched at the end of June 2023 in the cities of Montevideo, Colonia, Canelones, Punta del Este and Maldonado, and was quickly expanded to Trinidad, Paysandu, Fray Bentos, Young, Artigas, Salto, Rocha and Florida.
The network is being steadily launched in each of the country’s 19 departmental capitals. Customers within coverage areas and with a 5G-compatible device will be able to trial the service for 30 days for free.
