China Mobile Hong Kong (CMHK) has announced that it has completed lab trials of 5G Advanced technology in conjunction with equipment partner Huawei. The operator said the network testing and validation combined 4G, 5G and millimetre wave (mmWave) frequency bands and recorded a peak downlink rate of 12Gbps, with a stable average rate of more than 10Gbps. 400MHz of mmWave spectrum was used alongside 190MHz in the sub-6GHz range.

Li Fanfeng, Director and CEO of CMHK, said: ‘ 5G Advanced will deepen the transformation of digital intelligence and connect people and things – connected cars, connected homes and connected enterprises – to promote society towards a digital smart world.’

Meanwhile, CMHK has also launched a 10Gbps fixed broadband service utilising XGS-PON technology.
