Etisalat by e& in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has completed what it says is the world’s first 1.6Tbps per wavelength technology trial on its optical transport network.

The telco says that the test, carried out in conjunction with Huawei, will accelerate the 10 Giga UAE initiative which aims to provide 10Gbps connectivity to homes and businesses across the Middle East country, while also supporting 5G Advanced services.
