His Majesty the King of Sweden inaugurating Ericsson’s new office in Mexico.

Ericsson's presence in Mexico dates back 120 years, and it now employs more than 2,500 professionals across five sites. The new office in Mexico City will further bolster Ericsson's capacity to drive innovation and support projects throughout the country and beyond.

Fredrik Jejdling, Executive Vice President and Head of Business Area Networks for Ericsson, who inaugurated the new office, said: "Ericsson is deeply rooted in Mexico and we are committed to contributing to the country's digital transformation. The inauguration of our new office is a testament to our long-standing commitment to Mexico and our ambition to drive the development and adoption of 5G technologies across the region."

The new first-class offices are part of Ericsson's Hybrid and Flexible Work Future, with sustainability, wellbeing, and accessibility at the core of its design. Powered by energy-efficient infrastructure with fully automated lighting, air conditioning and energy management, the offices received a LEED Platinum certification, the highest recognition level for sustainability and energy efficiency. Also benchmarked for health, productivity and universal accessibility, the facility secured a three-star certification by Fitwell, and the highest magenta level rating by Todo Accessible.

Guests will also be able to experience the latest technology and industry trends in the new Ericsson Imagine Studio experience center, where visitors can see first-hand how Ericsson solutions make the Unimaginable Possible.

Pioneering a connected future for Mexico

Mexico leads Latin America in 5G adoption, becoming the first market in the region to launch 5G commercially in February 2022. Ericsson's presence is felt in 78 out of the 125 cities where 5G is currently available. The integration of 5G technologies is a priority for local governments, who view it as a catalyst for economic growth.

Ericsson's commitment to societal development is also evident in its long-standing agreement with the Mexican regulator IFT, Tecnológico de Monterrey University, and the ICT Minister in Colombia. This partnership has led to the implementation of the Ericsson Educate and 5G University program to develop digital skills in communities across Mexico, tackling the digital divide head-on.

Fabian Monge, Acting Head of Latin America North and Caribbean for Ericsson, added: "Ericsson is committed to working with governments, regulators, academia, and the industry to ensure that Mexico and the wider Latin America region does not lag behind in the global 5G industry. We believe that 5G and digital inclusion are two sides of the same coin. That's why we are investing heavily in both areas to ensure that everyone benefits from the digital revolution."

Ericsson Mexico is also dedicated to fostering diversity and inclusion within the company. Among different initiatives, the Mentorship Program connected female employees with mentors who shared their experience and support to develop their careers. In addition, more than 60% of the workforce at Ericsson's Tlaxcala factory, which specializes in manufacturing antennas and filters for diverse markets, are women, and the organization is proud of its community:  WE - Women of Ericsson, a volunteer group of female employees that promotes diversity and inclusion initiatives.
