MTC, Huawei Conduct First Official 5G Trials in Namibia

In a significant leap forward for Namibia’s telecommunications sector, MTC, the country’s largest mobile carrier, partnered with Chinese tech giant Huawei Technologies to conduct the nation’s inaugural 5G technology demonstration in Windhoek, the capital city.
During the event, Technology Minister Hon. Emma Theofelus emphasized the crucial role of cutting-edge technology, such as fifth-generation (5G), in realizing Namibia’s vision for 2030. Speaking at the launch of MTC’s trial of 5G technology, Minister Theofelus highlighted the transformative potential of 5G, citing its ability to deliver fast speeds, lower latency, and increased traffic capacity.
Commending MTC for its pioneering efforts in 5G deployment, Minister Theofelus praised the telecommunications company for consistently driving technological advancement in Namibia.
The successful demonstration marks a significant milestone in Namibia’s journey towards embracing the next generation of connectivity and underscores the country’s commitment to staying at the forefront of technological innovation.
