Bharti Airtel announces a milestone achievement with over 2.5 million customers utilizing its 5G services in North East India, marking significant progress in the region's connectivity landscape.

Bharti Airtel today announced that it has 2.5 million customers enjoying its 5G service in the states of North East and Assam. The company has successfully deployed 5G service across all cities and districts in North East and Assam, Airtel announced on Thursday. To recall, Airtel in February 2023 announced that its Airtel 5G Plus is live in all North East states of India. And again in October 2023, Airtel announced that within one year of the launch of 5G, it has over 1.7 million unique 5G customers on its network in the North East states of Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Tripura.

Rapid 5G Adoption

Airtel was the first telco to deploy high-speed 5G technology in these states, and its 5G service is available across all the districts in the states within 12 months of the launch, the company said at the time of the announcement in October 2023.

The company today said it has registered a significant increase in 5G users in the past six months in North East and Assam. This is possible because of its expanded network deployment that has effectively extended its services across the states, simplifying the process for customers to embrace 5G.

Connectivity Across Landmarks

From the iconic architectural marvels and pilgrimage sites of Tawang Monastery in Arunachal Pradesh and Ujjayanta Palace in Tripura to the breathtaking vistas of tourist hotspots like Kaziranga National Park in Assam, Mawsynram - the wettest place on Earth in Meghalaya, Hornbill Festival in Nagaland, and Tea plantations in Assam, Airtel says it continues to complete its rollout across North East and Assam.
