Telxius, a global connectivity provider, is set to enhance its core and edge network infrastructure by integrating Juniper Networks' Converged Optical Routing Architecture (CORA) and PTX Series Packet Transport Routers. This upgrade will scale Telxius' network to 400G, improving connectivity across its global operations in Spain, the Americas, and Europe, the company said in a statement this week.
Telxius' Ecosystem
Telxius provides a wide range of capacity, colocation, and security services, as well as direct internet connectivity through its Tier-1 IP network. According to the company, Telxius' ecosystem combines fiber optic submarine cables and terrestrial backhauls spanning over 100,000 km, around 100 PoPs in 17 countries, and 27 data centers.
Telxius said it will migrate some of its key architecture to Juniper's CORA and PTX Series Packet Transport Routers to deliver a network that offers robust power and space savings, superior performance, and automated operations.
Impact on Network Efficiency and Sustainability
The deployment of Juniper's IP over Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (IPoDWDM) solution will simplify network architecture by unifying IP and optical layers, maximizing routing capacity, and eliminating the need for external DWDM equipment. This move will increase bandwidth efficiency, reduce power consumption, and improve network reliability, the company said.
The upgrade is designed to meet the growing demands of the digital economy while optimising scalability and sustainability. Telxius expects the new infrastructure to support flexible network expansion and future-proof its operations.
