TD-LTE Micro eNB & Relay: Outdoor Trial Test Results
Trial test of TD-LTE Integrated eNodeB in Guangzhou
From December 2012 to January 2013, China Mobile Research Institute, China Mobile Guangdong and ZTE Corporation finished the field trial of the TD-LTE Integrated Micro eNodeB. The test items investigate the effect of coverage enhancement of Micro eNB for coverage hole and hot spot in the urban area.
For coverage hole: Significantly improve RSRP, SINR and throughput by the Integrated Micro eNodeB.
For hot spot: Increase the throughput by 105 pecent after introducing the Integrated Micro eNB. Different frequency deployment is better than using the same spectrum. The test results demonstrate that TD-LTE Integrated Micro eNodeB can effectively improve the coverage for dead zone and increase the throughput for hot spot, and has the value to be commercialized in large-scale.
Trial test of Relay in Guangzhou
1. Completion of field trial of Relay:In Feb. 2013, CMCC and ZTE launched and finished the first trial test of preliminary commercial TD-LTE Relay product in Guangzhou, in order to explore and verify the advantages of Relay in the practical network.
2. Findings from Relay trial test:
Features of current Relay product:
• Small size (<10L), no need for machine room, easy & flexible to deploy
• Support LOS /NLOS wireless backhaul
• No need for isolation between backhaul antenna and access antenna
Benefits for the network from Relay deployment:
• Remove coverage hole in urban area without harm to cell throughput
• Improve indoor coverage for indoor users demanding high speed service
• Effective in the area where difficult/expensive to deploy wired backhaul
