ZTE Services Deutschland, a subsidiary of China’s ZTE Group, has taken responsibility for introducing the German wireless operator E-Plus’s mobile communications network, based on a managed services contract signed last year, TeleGeography reports. ZTE completed the network operation transition this January, switching the whole IT infrastructure from the previous service provider to a ZTE data centre. ZTE has also deployed new software tools, including its ZSmart platform.

In a separate press release, ZTE announced that is has developed a cost-saving technology to transmit high-quality HD video over TD-LTE wireless networks, working together with E-Plus and the hi-tech company CloudStreet. E-Plus and ZTE have already cooperated on a UMTS and LTE FDD network in Germany, and are planning live video transmission over the E-Plus 3.5 G TD-LTE network extension, through the CloudStreet capacity reservation system. The new network can co-exist with the LTE FDD infrastructure and use the same core network, which gives the 3.5 G TD-LTE system greater capacity.
