Spanish mobile network operator Yoigo is now offering LTE-based services in all Spanish cities and towns with more than 70,000 inhabitants, Telegeography.com reported on Wednesday. The operator’s LTE-1800MHz network footprint now covers 48 percent of the national territory, in line with a self-imposed target it set out to achieve by the end of 2013.

Yoigo launched commercial LTE services in July 2013, initially in Madrid only. Having inaugurated its network, it swiftly issued an updated schedule for expansion, saying it was aiming to achieve 48 percent population coverage by the end of 2013, up from a previous 37 percent target. The company is looking to roll out services to more than 22.5 million people in 100 cities with more than 100,000 inhabitants.

Expansion announcements have come thick and fast since, with LTE coverage extended to Alicante, Barcelona and Seville in October 2013. Another six provinces were added to the network footprint in December 2013: Castellon, Tarragona, Girona, Cordoba, Huelva and Vizcaya.
