The French operator Hub One, a subsidiary of Aeroports de Paris, has gotten the go-ahead to test its 4G service at 400-MHz and 700-MHz at Roissy Charles de Gaule Airport, in cooperation with Air France, reports Telecompaper.com, which explains that the companies want to test for airport-specific applications.

The allocation of spectrum for airports and military bases requires extensive testing before it can go live. The test frequencies will be reserved for collision applications, aircraft preparation, and for aircraft-ground crew communications.

The Hub One tests got underway last December. The trials will also study Private Mobile Radio (PMR) and traditional broadband and video applications at the same terminal for the first time in Europe.
