Vodafone Spain has started its 4G service in the city of Arrecife on the Canary Islands, Telecompaper.com reports. With the new technology, users will be able to connect to the Internet at download speeds of up to 150-Mbps and upload speeds of up to 50-Mbps. All customers with data plans, 4G-enabled handsets and a compatible SIM can access the company\'s 4G network at no extra cost.

The launch is part of a €23.5 million ($32 million) investment in the Canary Islands where the operator already offers 4G services in the cities of Palmas de Gran Canaria, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Arucas, Telde, San Bartolome de Tirajana, Santa Lucía de Tirajana, la Laguna and Arona.
