Brazilian operator Oi has initiated the selection of suppliers for its LTE network in the 450 MHz band, reports Telesintese. The operator expects the network to launch at the beginning of next year, with a commercial pilot taking place later in 2014. Oi has the obligation to provide a 4G service in more than 900 rural municipalities in the states of Rio Grande do Sul, Mato Grosso do Sul, Mato Grosso, Goias and the Federal District. Claro is also implementing a project to use the 450 MHz band by 2016, providing coverage in 693 sites, especially in the north.
