Indian operator Reliance Jio Infocomm has awarded a second LTE base station contract to Samsung, Telecompaper.com reported on Sept 18, 2014. Under the terms of the deal, Samsung will deploy 50,000 to 70,000 base stations for the Indian operator, The Times of India reports, citing a Credit Suisse statement. Following the completion of this second deployment by Samsung, Reliance Jio Infocomm’s infrastructure will grow to 100,000 base stations.

The first contract awarded to Samsung covered the deployment of 60,000 LTE base stations across India. Reliance Jio Infocomm plans to commercially launch its 4G LTE services offering by March 2015.
