Pakistani mobile telephone operator Zong has opened 4G LTE service, Telecompaper.com reports, on Sept 28, explaining that its initial phase will have it available in seven major cities across the country and that the company expects to put $1 billion into deploying its LTE network nationwide over the next three to four years. It also said it expects to deploy 4,000 mobile sites by the end of this year. Zong currently has around 27.2 million customers across the country. Earlier this year, China Mobile Pakistan, which operates under the Zong brand, won a 3G and 4G license in Pakistan.
