These guidelines are to state the purpose and details of the awards, the process of application, and an approximate timeline for the award cycle. It is very important that you read through the guidelines carefully to ensure an eligible application.

Purpose

The GTI Awards program aims to acknowledge achievements and success of industry players in 5G development across a wide range of market segments.

In the year of 2024, GTI mainly focused on 5G Technology and Product, 5G Enterprise Network Solutions (5G ENS), 5G Innovative Applications & Monetization, as well as GTI 5G-A×AI Development Program. Therefore, GTI Awards 2025 intends to recognize outstanding contributions in these areas and encourage the development of innovative products, solutions and applications that address key challenges faced by GTI operators, and honorable contribution to the industry and the GTI.

Categories, Eligibility and Criteria

GTI Awards 2025 has Five categories: Innovative Breakthrough in Mobile Technology Award, Innovative Mobile Service and Application Award, Market Development & Business Value Award, 5G-A×AI Integrated Innovation Award, and Honorary Award.

- Category 1: Innovative Breakthrough in Mobile Technology Award

Innovative Breakthrough in 5G Technology and Product Award: This award is for operators and vendors providing innovative technology breakthrough in network infrastructure, devices, chipsets, modules, and test systems supporting 5G commercialization and 5G-A evolution. To be eligible for this award, technologies/products must have been commercially launched, or will be launched or unveiled specifically before or at the GTI Summit on 4th March, 2025 in Barcelona, Spain.

Innovative Breakthrough in Enterprise Network Technology Award: This award is for operators and vendors providing 5G/5G-A/IoT technology breakthroughs and innovations for verticals. To be eligible for this award, technologies must have been released in white papers or speeches at 5G ENS before the GTI Summit on 4th March, 2025 in Barcelona, Spain.

Innovative Breakthrough in Mobile Technology Award entries are judged on aspects including the extent of meeting GTI operators' needs, innovativeness, advantages, market potential, sustainability, impacts on and leverage of technology.

- Category 2: Innovative Mobile Service and Application Award

Innovative 5G Service and Application Award: This award is for operators and vendors providing innovative mobile services, applications and solutions enabled by 5G commercialization and 5G-A evolution technologies for consumers and verticals. To be eligible for this award, services and applications must have been implemented in trial or commercially launched before or at the GTI Summit on 4th March, 2025 in Barcelona, Spain. i

Innovative 5G ENS Service and Application Award: This award is for operators and vendors providing 5G/5G-A/IoT innovative products, solutions and applications for verticals. To be eligible for this award, products, solutions and applications must have been implemented in trial or launched at 5G ENS before the GTI Summit on 4th March, 2025 in Barcelona, Spain.

Innovative Mobile Service and Application Award entries are judged on aspects including innovativeness, advantages, and its sustainability and potentiality.

- Category 3: Market Development & Business Value Award

Market Development & Business Value in 5G Technology and Product Award: This award is for operators and vendors that make outstanding contributions to 5G commercialization, 5G-A evolution, best practices and business models in 5G applications and monetization. To be eligible for this award, commercial use cases, practices, business models or applications must have been commercially launched, or will be launched or unveiled specifically before or at the GTI Summit on 4th March, 2025 in Barcelona, Spain. i

Market Development & Business Value in 5G ENS Award: This award is for operators and vendors that make outstanding contributions to 5G ENS use cases which bring market values and corporate benefits in verticals. To be eligible for this award, use cases must be the first release or have large-scale applications at 5G ENS before the GTI Summit on 4th March, 2025 in Barcelona, Spain.

Market Development & Business Value Award entries are judged on aspects including contribution to the establishment of 5G / 5G ENS ecosystem, promotion of 5G / 5G ENS adoption, advantages, monetization, and impacts to economy and value creation.

- Category 4: 5G-A×AI Integrated Innovation Award

5G-A×AI Integrated Innovation in 5G Technology and Product Award: This award is for operators and vendors providing innovative technology breakthroughs, mobile services, applications and solutions enabled by the integration of 5G-A and AI. To be eligible for this award, technologies/products, services and applications must have been commercially launched or implemented in trial before or at the GTI Summit on 4th March, 2025 in Barcelona, Spain.

5G-A×AI Integrated Innovation in 5G ENS Award: This award is for operators and vendors providing 5G/5G-A/IoT technology breakthroughs, innovative solutions and applications for verticals enabled by the integration of 5G-A and AI. To be eligible for this award, technologies must have been released in white papers or speeches, or solutions and applications must have been implemented in trial or launched at 5G ENS before or at the GTI Summit on 4th March, 2025 in Barcelona, Spain.

5G-A×AI Integrated Innovation Award entries are judged on aspects including the extent of meeting the needs of 5G-A and AI, innovativeness, advantages, market potential, sustainability, impacts on and leverage of technology.

- Category 5: Honorary Award

5G Technology and Product Honorary Award: This award is for the individuals, groups and companies whose technical or marketing efforts have brought significant credit to 5G commercialization and 5G-A evolution, such as giving presentations, participating/supporting GTI work. Only GTI operators and GTI Partner Forum members are eligible for this award. Deadline for approved membership status is set to 31st December, 2024.

5G ENS Honorary Award: This award is for the individuals, groups and companies whose technical or marketing efforts have brought significant credit to 5G ENS, such as giving presentations, leading/participating in the tasks, etc. Only GTI operators and GTI Partner Forum members are eligible for this award. Deadline for approved membership status is set to 31st December, 2024.

Honorary Award entries acknowledge the company, group or individual who has made significant contribution and held a major leadership role in 5G commercialization and 5G ENS, marketing promotion and the GTI work in 2024 either regionally or globally.

Process of Application and Timelines

GTI Awards program has an open application process:

1. GTI Secretariat announces the GTI Awards 2025 open for application.

2. Applicants complete the application form, and return it to the GTI Secretariat (admin@gtigroup.org) before the deadline: 9th December, 2024. Other supporting materials may also be attached with the application form.

3. GTI Secretariat assesses the applications based on the criteria and makes a recommendation report to GTI Steering Committee for approval.

4. GTI Awards will take place on stage at MWC Barcelona 2025.

Notes for 5G Technology and Product related awards:

The achievements of the applied services, applications and use cases should be illustrated clearly, such as the innovation and quantifiable improvement of the services and applications, the scale of service users or industrial use cases, how much economic benefit the commercial services and applications have generated (Cat 2 and Cat 3 in particular). The participation, related to the applied innovation, in GTI work (e.g., the technology presentation in GTI Workshop, the contribution in GTI white papers, etc.) can be recognized as the extra credit for the application during the award review.
