Mr. Mats Granryd, Director General of GSMA, noted that currently mobile broadband networks cover 95% of the world’s population, serving 5.4 billion unique customers. Our industry has changed the world, unlocking the power of connectivity for almost 70% of the population and enabling innovation on a scale we have not seen before. At the heart of it all has been partnership and collaboration. Last year was a pivotal year for 5G, with 1 billion connections by the end of the year. As connectivity becomes more embedded in every aspect of our lives, meeting our customers’ demands requires more complex solutions, and the only way to achieve this is by working together, sharing knowledge and best practice across industries and verticals, and innovating together. He said, one of the key missions of 5G in the coming years is to empower digital transformation across all sectors. We must work hard to strengthen our bonds, to build a firm foundation for the next generation of connectivity.
