The Rohde&Schwarz VoLTE conformance test solution supports Global Certification Forum (GCF) relevant aspects of VoLTE and IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) testing using the versatile hardware platform R&S®CMW500. Chipset, device manufacturers and test houses can verify and certify the correct UE (User Equipment) signaling behavior with the R&S®CMW500 according to the 3GPP and OMA defined VoLTE test cases. Ensuring a successful “pass” of the test cases on the GCF-approved (as well as PTCRB) R&S VoLTE conformance test solution implies: • The UE performs correctly on VoLTE network. • The UE performs correctly during a handover into a legacy radio access technology network (SRVCC). • The UE will receive a seamless VoLTE roaming service. • The network operator as well as the UE manufacturer brand is associated with high quality service delivery. A non-compliant signaling behavior however can be detected easily with the state-of the-art Message Analyzer CMWmars.The R&S developed campaign tool Test Case Explorer allows a customized test case selection and fully automated testing.In addition, 3GPP TS34.229-1 based IMS/VoLTE test cases are supported on the 3GPP TS36.523-3 Multi-tester test model. Thereby, the IMS/VoLTE test cases can be executed on the GCF approved test platform TP92 which supports already more than 10000 validated test cases for GSM, WCDMA, TD-SCDMA and TD-LTE.

• Cost efficiency

The R&S VoLTE conformance test solution is a flexible and modular test solution that covers numerous test areas and provides a cost-efficient solution. Re-usability of the HW for the test areas are the key to provide an overall test solution which not only serves testing of VoLTEprotocol conformance but also the GCF required protocol conformance tests for GSM, TD-SCDMA, WCDMA and LTE (TD-LTE and LTE FDD).

• Coverage of all RATs and bands by one unit (Multi-Mode Multi-Band)

Based on this demand, the R&S test solution for IMS and VoLTE is based on the R&S®CMW500 mobile radio tester as the core unit. It covers major mobile communication technologies and frequency bands, including TD-LTE and TD-SCDMA in a single box.

• Modularity and flexibility

The setup is highly modular. Depending on the test purpose, additional hardware and software can be quickly and easily added to cover test areas like CSFB or SRVCC as well as performance testing or carrier specific testing.

Customers can verify their implementation´s compliance with special network operator requirements as well as compliance with standards on the same setup.
