Overview

The R&S Video Quality Testing Solution is able to test the video quality on smartphones under real world conditions. It consists of the R&S®CMW-PQA and the R&S®VTE video tester. The R&S®CMW-PQA is the test platform for mobile phone testing against different mobile standards. It consists of the R&S®CMW500 wideband radio communication tester, which can emulatecomplete mobile networks including fading conditions for the RF signaland the R&S®VTE video tester. The R&S®VTE video tester performs difference picture analysis for detecting and objectively analyzing degradations in a mobile device\'s decoded video signal. Video content is output to the R&S®VTE over the mobile device\'s MHL, HDMI or Miracast interface.

• In the R&S Video Quality Testing Solution the analysis of the video degradation is carried out by utilizing internationally known objective metric, in order to come up with measurement results correlating with the subjective perception of video quality on human eyes(in contrast to solutions using optical and camera-based acquisition from the UE display).

• The Rohde & Schwarz solution is working on the devices’ existing A/V interface capabilities such as HDMI, MHL, MyDP or Miracast to verify the video service performance. This allows pixel exact comparisons and the use of standardized metric. Furthermore to setup the test and achieve reproducible results is made possible through this approach.
