RF Shielded Box for Testing of Radio Interfaces of Wireless Devices During Production

Device:Test Instrument

Vendor: Rohde & Schwarz

Overview

Shielded RF test boxes are essential for testing the radio interfaces of wireless devices because they provide a test environment that is free from interference and other unwanted emissions. The R&S TS7124 RF shielded box is the latest addition to the Rohde & Schwarz R&S TS712x family. Unique in its class, the R&S TS7124 offers shielding in excess of 80 dB at 6 GHz. Its frequency range from 300 MHz to 6 GHz makes the R&S TS7124 suitable for a variety of wireless communications applications, such as detecting production errors in mobile devices or antenna pattern errors, performing end-to-end tests on WLAN routers, or for basestation antenna arrays. The R&S TS7124 can be installed in a 19\" rack. The interior dimensions of 300 mm x 334 mm x 480 mm (W x H x D) offer sufficient space for testing even large DUTs. The box can also be equipped with an antenna ring for the placement of multiple antennas. Users can flexibly create their own radiation patterns and measure the radiated power for selected orientations. The new, optionally available Vivaldi antennas ensure reliable and reproducible measurements. The R&S TS7124 can be used in the development lab, but is particularly suited for the production line with its automatic or manual open and close functionality. Its robust design permits more than a million open and close cycles without any impact on the shielding effectiveness. The special \"soft close\" feature makes additional protection during automated operation unnecessary.

Features & Benefits:

Antenna configurations for any application
Reproducible test results are essential for achieving comparable measurements. This is where the antennas play a key role. Different antenna configurations can be used with the R&S®TS7124 RF shielded box. Placing multiple antennas in the box allows customers to create their own radiation patterns and measure radiated power at selected orienta- tions. A newly developed antenna ring to accommodate mul- tiple antennas includes brackets that allow the antennas to be positioned as desired. In addition, its material properties have only a negligible impact on RF measurements. As an addition to the spiral broadband antenna, the new Vivaldi antennas ensure high gain and excellent repeatability.

Robust for mass production environments
Thanks to the RF test boxes’ sturdy construction, they can withstand over a million opening and closing cycles without any noticeable impact on their shielding performance. This is why the automatic model with its high-performance closing- mechanism cylinders and its immunity to shocks performs reliably in mass production environments.

Flexible configuration for any application
The manual version for labs and the automatic version for production environments ensure that measurement conditions are comparable and identical measurement scenarios are used in both instances. Furthermore, the RF test boxes can be controlled remotely via Ethernet or RS-232-C inter- face. As each application poses different requirements, the RF test boxes have interface panels on the front and rear with shielded feed-throughs that can be configured in a wide variety of ways for Ethernet, USB, fiber-optic and pneumatic con- nections. The R&S®TS7124 RF shielded boxes offer high quality and reliability in lab and production environments at an affordable price
