The 36th GTI Online Workshop
Report in Collaboration with the GSMA Highlights Best Practice from National 5G Plans
The 36th GTI Online Workshop was held on 25th-26th April, 2023, which gathered around 200 experts and representatives from over 10 major operators including NTT DOCOMO, LG U+, Orange, Rakuten Mobile, RIL, SoftBank, T-Mobile US and Turkcell, as well as 30 industry partners, to discuss and exchange insightful views on the most concerned and trending issues that are facing by the industry.
Madame Huang Yuhong, the Secretary General of GTI, shared the latest progress and major achievements made in international cooperation and 5G technology development in 2022. At the workshop, she also introduced in detail the three targets and four actions in the phase of GTI 3.0, and called for in-depth global cooperation with industry partners to further accelerate the development of 5G technology and product, and foster the realization of 5G value.
For 5G technology and product session, the workshop focused topics on 5G new technological innovation, integration across areas and commercial practices. It discussed RedCap end-to-end technology development to explore more 5G new functions, introduced showcases of new technology on 5G new calling, 5G enabling new media and digital twin to unlock new opportunity of 5G development, identified the current requirements and challenges in 5G network by operators and shared views on how to make greater 5G success, to create more values and opportunities for 5G development. The 5G technology and product program will be re-organized from aspects of spectrum, technology, product, testing and application, to maximize 5G potential and foster further large-scale development of 5G application.
For 5G ENS session, by focusing on vertical requirements and application scenarios, it discussed requirements in petrochemical and power industry for 5G-A, explored key technologies and values in 5G-A passive IoT, deterministic communication as well as integrated sensing and communication, to lay a foundation for the value realization of 5G enterprise network. On the way towards GTI 3.0, the 5G ENS program will reshape its architecture to optimize cooperation mechanism, and collaborate with partners to foster integrated development of 5G+ industry and accelerate a prosperous ecosystem.
