During the 2024 Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, China Mobile released the research and development results of glass-free 3D, and demonstrated a number of innovative applications such as glass-free 3D calls for mobile phone users on site, which received wide attention from the participating media and industry.
China Mobile actively deploys glass-free 3D key technology research and business innovation, cooperates with industry partners to realize glass-free 3D calls, 3D PRBT (Personal Ring Back Tone) and real-time 3D content sharing for cellphone users for the first time in the industry. The application covers scenes before and during calls, providing users with a new immersive 3D call service experience, bringing new opportunities for operators to grow and enhance their call services.
In terms of terminals, China Mobile uses the method of attaching films to existing mobile phones to achieve 3D effects. This solution is easy to operate and has little impact on the original 2D display, it can quickly realize the 3D display upgrade of existing mobile phone terminals.

In terms of content, China Mobile realizes the automatic generation of glass-free 3D content by using 2D to 3D algorithms. This solution can provide rich content resources for glass-free 3D ringtones and 3D content sharing.

In terms of networks, the high-speed and low-latency characteristics of China Mobile's 5G and 5G-A networks can effectively guarantee the realization of glass-free 3D communication. At the same time, the support of network computing power and AI capabilities will further enhance the real-time, interactivity and immersion of glass-free 3D communication.

China Mobile has joined hands with several industry partners to establish the glass-free 3D Industry Alliance. It has currently released various glass-free 3D terminal products such as mobile phones, tablets, car screens, notebooks, and monitors, as well as several achievements in content applications, technical platforms, and ecological capabilities.
