Hangzhou Citizens Experience high-speed TD-LTE service on City Bus
On Mar 30 2012, city bus B1 line started to provide free broadband wireless service through China Mobile TD-LTE network in Hangzhou, China. This line lasts 28km with 20 bus stops, covered by 74 TD-LTE base stations. MiFi was installed in 55 buses & 20 bus stops for convenient access to the TD-LTE network by citizens.
Each MiFi provides 30Mbps of average rate and 80Mbps of peak rate at downlink. In each bus, 60 users could experience 4G network such as internet surfing, on-line video, video chatting and downloading. All the terminals with embedded Wifi module could simply connect to TD-LTE network through MiFi, e.g. smart phone, laptop and pad.
According to the statistics from China Mobile, About 10,000 passengers connect to TD-LTE network every day and 450 users on line at the same time. Each passenger averagely consumes data of 100MB/day.
Hangzhou citizens are very satisfied with the TD-LTE network experience and convenience brought by the broad wireless technology. On the other hand, most of them are very interested in the monthly fee of the new network.
